The My House Women's Group provides a safe place for women who have been affected by a loved one's struggles with pornography and sexual addiction. Group meetings are private and confidential, and new members must sign a confidentiality statement before the location and time are disclosed for this weekly meeting. Many women feel a sense of hope and relief from isolation when they are in a safe group of women who are working to restore their lives. The women's group combines practical recovery resources with some reading and discussion of The Good News about Sex and Marriage by Christopher West.
The group is facilitated by Beth Meier, MA. Beth has a B.S. in Biology from the University of Dallas, and an M.A. in Education from the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs. Beth has attended 3 courses at the Theology of the Body Institute including Catholic Sexual Ethics with Dr. Janet Smith, the Theology of the Body Immersion Course with Christopher West, and the Theology of Sexual Healing and Redemption with Dr. Bob Schuchts. Before becoming a mother, Beth worked for the Family Life Office to assist Jacki Corrigan, and she helped with Natural Family Planning, chastity education, and a marriage initiative for the Archdiocese. Please contact Beth Meier if you would like to be involved in the group here, and feel free to watch part of her testimony on the home page.
Counseling - In addition to this group, there are several female counselors in the Kansas City area that Beth knows who are helpful to women in these difficult situations. Sam Meier provides counseling to couples, families, and men who are healing from pornography and sexual addiction. There are additional Catholic counselors that Sam can recommend in the Kansas City area as well for individual and marriage counseling.
